Served by reasonably priced, reliable (99.999% since 2000) Tennessee Valley Authority generated electricity, North Alabama is a great location for families, industries and businesses.
TVA has heavy generation in North Alabama consisting of three hydro-electric dams, Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, two natural gas energy centers and solar farms. The TVA transmission system provides the critical link that connects this power generation through a network of 22 distributors in North Alabama (154 system wide) to the residents, industries and businesses in the region. This transmission system consists of 500 KV lines, 161 KV lines and smaller to meet the electricity demand in the region.
The three hydro-electric dams and solar farms give North Alabama a renewable energy footprint within the seven state TVA region.
